Recently, the National Energy Administration of China officially released the China New Energy Storage Development Report (2026). New energy storage has evolved from an auxiliary supporting technology to a core pillar of the new power system, with significant growth potential in residential, commercial & industrial, and mobile energy storage worldwide.
Domestic Industry Overview
By the end of 2025, China’s installed new energy storage capacity reached 136 GW / 351 GWh, accounting for nearly 50% of global installed capacity. China has issued special plans to achieve over 180 GW of installed capacity by 2027, with trillions in industrial investment ahead. Air-cooled products can struggle to meet high-temperature operating requirements, while integrated liquid-cooled energy storage has become a mainstream technology for commercial projects, offering longer service life, lower power consumption, and stronger thermal-runaway prevention.
Global Market Prospect
Global energy storage installed capacity rose 67% year-on-year in 2025. The Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa see strong demand for household storage and mobile emergency storage, as diesel generators are gradually replaced by lithium energy storage systems. Leading institutions forecast that global energy storage battery shipments will reach 1.1 TWh in 2026, marking the arrival of the 1 TWh era.
Future Development Trend
Safety, integrated design, liquid-cooling thermal management, and intelligent cloud monitoring will be key competitive priorities for the industry. Enterprises will focus on technology upgrades and global expansion, providing customized, reliable, and cost-effective energy storage solutions to support the global low-carbon energy transition.
